3 Days 2 Nights: Slack Family Trip to Johor Bahru with a Kid (Day 2)

I’m glad there wasn’t an interesting (sunrise) view from our hotel—zero motivation to wake up early. I slept in till past 9am and slowly started my day. Haha~

DAY 2 @ Taman Mount Austin

First time visiting Taman Mount Austin! Despite the name, there’s nothing mountain-like about it

Restoran Loon Sing Taman Daya 隆盛佛跳墙酒家

We had our brunch at Restoran Loon Sing Taman Daya – there’s an ongoing promo where dim sum is 50% off on weekdays and 25% off on weekends between 10am to 3pm.

Wow. The restaurant is so bigggg.
Someone cat-walking.

Happy Girl~
Haha. Toilet Photo~ it’s BIGGGG and clean. Just that I don’t like the type of toilet paper (tissue-like).

Loved the delicious dim sum—no complaints about any of the dishes (though I wish the custard bun was a little more lava-like). Our total damage for the meal – RM 104.05~

Definitely worth checking out if you’re nearby!

AEON Mall Tebrau City

Our next destination is AEON, we first went to Decathlon beside the mall to buy a cap for Kpo Kia, and proceeded to the mall for exploration.

Tried Chagee for the first time! The White Peach Oolong Milk Tea was pretty good – very fragrant and refreshing.
Someone conned me to buy this for her, the store staff teased her about it.
The Kuromi girl… from head to bottom.

Hock Kee Kopitiam 福气安康

We had a tea break at the Nanyang Kopitiam Hock Kee again. Interestingly, I noticed this is another Halal cafe.

Kopi with fish biscuit 咖啡 (RM 4.50)
Polo Bun with Scrambled Egg & Cheese 乳酪西式炒蛋手工菠萝包 (RM 12.90)

We originally ordered toast for the man, but he changed his mind after I placed the order. Luckily, the staff were kind enough to let us change it. Always nice to be served by friendly people.

Shiba Cafe

While researching for the trip, I found that Johor has quite a number of pet cafés, so we decided to visit the Shiba Café!

Reservations are required before visit, and there’s an entrance fee if the booking is for 5 or more people.

We were slightly late and noticed another family looking a bit lost—they ended up following us into the café. =.=”

Cute stairs leading us to the Shiba cafe
Welcomed by the cute counter.

Just as we were getting ready to enter the dog area, a little incident happened. One of the dogs barked loudly, which startled a young boy who then shouted. That set off more barking from the other dogs. I think the dogs were a bit tired by evening, so maybe a morning visit would be better.

Haha, the whole visit we were busy matching the dogs with their name.
She doesn’t dare to go too near it. LOL.
The Man looks so chill.
*Pat Pat*
Haha, so challenging to make all of them posed with us. This is one of the more successful one. Great job to the staff~
I insisted in taking photos with them, while the staff were briefing the other visitors.
The saliva…. but for the photos! LOL.
Finally got a dog who let the family posed together.
Haha, it looks like a pig at this angel.

The drinks were too bland for my liking and I didn’t manage to finish mine, but the ice cream was still alright.

Taste likes red bean, should have gotten the durian one instead.
Family photo time!

Hai Kah Lang 海脚人

Highly recommended by A, so we had to check out Hai Kah Lang!

We headed there right after the Shiba Café visit. Parking was a bit of a challenge—lots of eateries in the area and we kinda got lost figuring out which turn leads to the carpark.

There’s a long queue, but they also provide quite a lot of seats for waiting customers to sit. Quite systematic with the numbering system, and glad the queue moved quite fast.

A reminded us to go early, as the fresh fish tends to sell out fast. Indeed, by 7:30pm, there was only one type left!

Fish Soup Menu
Snack and Drinks Menu

We ordered two portions of fish soup with milk, and a portion of thick noodles for Kpo Kia to share with me—was worried she might be too full for a full meal. Regret! The fish was super fresh, and Kpo Kia LOVED it. She even asked for more… but I’d already finished the other half portion by then, Opps!

He looks so lost when I’m trying to take a photo of the restaurant name.
I was surprised to see this ‘bird nest drink’. Took a while to finish it. I managed to clear my system after finishing it, probably due to the milk inside.
Yum yum. Grouper + Soup with Milk + Thick Bee Hoon (J7A) 石斑鱼片+ 奶汤 + 粗米粉 (RM 18.90 + RM 2.00), the milk cost RM2.
Fried Prawn Paste Fish Slice 虾酱炸鱼片 (RM 20.90)
Fried Soft Shell Crab 炸软壳蟹 (RM 19.90)

Wefie after dinner~

We finished the night after a short visit at the Night Market @ Jalan Seladang, which resides opposite KSL City Mall. It ended quite early, most of the stalls are closing by the time 10PM.

And that wraps up Day 2 of our JB adventure! Stay tuned for the next post, where I’ll share more about the places we explored and the food we indulged in.
