Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience Review

The Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience exhibition finally comes to Singapore!

Here’s what to look forward to from 1st March-1st October 2023: a 360-degree digital exhibition, over 300 paintings, and a VR tour of 8 of Van Gogh’s most iconic pieces.

I was determined to visit the exhibition when I knew it was coming to Singapore. In fact, since I first saw my friend sharing Van Gogh Alive photos taken in Auckland, I had told myself that I would definitely visit the exhibition if it ever came to Singapore. And I’m glad it’s here!

I first learn about Vincent Van Gogh when I attended a course. Before that, not being an artistic person nor a knowledgeable one, I never associate the song ‘Vincent’ with the drawing ‘Starry Starry night’ together with Van Gogh. Vincent van Gogh is one of the world’s most famous painters, unfortunately for him, when he was alive, he led a sad life and his artwork wasn’t recognised by most. Read about Van Gogh’s life and his constant fight with mental illness. The tortured artist has a short life but one filled with conflicts. These had been channelled into his artwork. Interestingly, he had painted over 900 paintings but only sold one in his lifetime.

Kpo Kia happened to learn about Vincent Van Gogh and his drawing about the same time, so she wanted to visit the exhibition when I mentioned it to her.

Do you know that Van Gogh’s works are now copyright free?

These works can now be reproduced and interpreted as one wishes.
