COVID had been haunting Singapore for over a year now. One year ago, I was hopeful and confident that Singapore will be able to keep the situation under control. We were laughing at those who were busy stocking up the toilet paper, rice, flour, and even cream cheese. I will never think we will be queuing up to collect free masks from the government every quarter, and I will be going through another ‘Paid’ full-time course after 19 years.
Changes in our life since COVID
It’s interesting how COVID changed our life.
We do online shopping and food delivery more often than ever.
Our bomb shelter and fridge started to stock up food.
We are more cautious of what we touch and what we put into our mouths.
Understand that those with lower immune systems are more prone to get infected and affected by COVID, we began to be more health-conscious.
I had promised myself to practice self-care ever since my eczema returned thanks to the endless overtime last year. I tried to consume more supplements since sometimes it’s simply tough to get the correct nutrient through our daily diet.
Apple cider vinegar
One of the supplements I tried recently, is the Goli Nutrition Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies. Apple cider vinegar is claimed to have various healthful properties, including antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. Some suggest it may offer health benefits, such as reducing cholesterol, aiding weight loss, and lowering blood sugar levels.
Apple cider vinegar is also a common remedy for skin conditions like dry skin and eczema – which disturbed me deeply in recent months.
Unfortunately, Acetic acid gives vinegar a strong sour smell and flavor, which Kpo Kia papa finds too strong, and frowned whenever I placed my cup near him. So I am glad to find these sweet little Goli gummy acv, that give me the health benefits, and not cause any disturbance to people around me. They are sweet to eat and feel like a lolly (the Goli Gummies catchphrase is “Taste the apple. Not the vinegar.”), so they are easy to consume as snacks or even share with kids. Also like that they are 100% organic, vegan-friendly and gluten-free, contain no preservatives, chemicals, or artificial ingredients.
Thanks to MY’s sharing, I have recently included Flaxseeds as one of the ingredients in my overnight oats.
Flaxseeds are good sources of many nutrients. They are a rich source of the omega-3 fatty acid ALA, which is linked to a lower risk of heart disease and stroke.
Flaxseeds also contain lignans (plant compounds that have antioxidant and estrogen properties), which help lower the risk of cancer. Its high fiber content can also help lower cholesterol.
Kpo Kia papa also made quite a shift in his lifestyle. He began to work out often at home, load himself with tonnes of supplements diligently, and monitor his blood pressure daily with his Omron blood pressure monitor (he has borderline high blood pressure which he managed to control with his more active lifestyle).
As for the house, we now have boxes of masks placed beside our main door, and a small tube of hand sanitizer in every bag.
What about you? How did COVID change your life?
