Hidden gem along Changi Road: Seng Coffee Bar

Food lovers, especially those staying in the East, will be glad to know that Seng Coffee Bar had officially opened this February!

This is a place where one can enjoy cafe favourites and casual dining that combines fresh produce and great flavours. With their delectable dinner and dessert menu, complete with a selection of wines and drinks, you will definitely have a satisfying meal. The cafe is started by a father-daughter duo, and is currently managed by the daughter of Seng. Find this hidden gem in the East, along Changi Road, a few minutes walk away from Kembangan MRT Station.

There are a couple of instagramable corners, especially near the counter area.

The Mains

One of their popular dishes is Fried Cod Fish Burger (S$23.00). The dish is served with miso cod fish, tartare sauce, brioche bun, and a generous portion of truffle fries. The brioche bun is sturdy and spongy, and the slice of fried cod fish is thick and filling.

Grapefruit citrus fizz (S$8.00) is a great choice for a hot weather drink. The Cup of fresh grapefruit juice comes with lemon lime bitters and soda. It’s refreshing and not too sweet, making me feel less sinful to match with my burger.

There is so many mouth-watering foods, that I wished I have more stomachs to stomach all of them in.

Salted Egg Chicken Burger (S$16.00) is served with salted egg fried chicken, brioche bun, curry leaf and truffle fries. Look at the salted egg lava… it’s definitely a sinful dish! But it looks so yummy licking good, that my saliva nearly dripped as Emily was enjoying this main.

The Grilled Sea bass (S$22.00) comes with sauteed baby spinach, olive dust, lotus chips, bail oil and lemon wedges. The flesh is moist and tender.

The Ribeye Steak (S$28.00) is served with a slice of Argentina Ribeye (200g), grilled asparagus, roasted baby potatoes, beef jus. Was told that it tastes tender and richly flavored.

Mentaiko Mac & Cheese (S$18.00) – the pan of Penne, Bacon, Mentai Cream, mozzarella cheese, parsley looks tempting to me (cheese lover!). The cheese is not too thick, but the portion is too big for most people to finish by themselves. It can probably be better served as a side, and still, feed a small eater.

Look at the size of the Grilled Tiger Prawns in their Prawn Aglio Olio (S$22.00)! Kpo Kia papa would have loved this dish if he’s with me as he is a prawn lover. Too bad the 8pax safe distancing measure is still in place, so the men don’t get it~

The Sides

Some sides available in the cafe includes Truffles Fries with parmesan cheese (S$10.00), Mentaiko Fries (S$13.00), Roasted Curry Cauliflower with parmesan cheese & pine nuts (S$12.00), Fried Nan Lu Chicken (S$12.00), Ginger Sake Clam (S$13.00) and Torilla Chips with nacho cheese (S$12.00).

Torilla Chips was my favorite side of the night. The chips were topped with cheese, and with a decent amount of dipping cheese served with it. As a cheese lover, and a chips lover, I can’t help snacking on it with my ‘dessert stomach’ despite feeling full from my main dish, as it is too addictive for me.

Roasted Curry Cauliflower with parmesan cheese & pine nuts was a bit overwhelming for me, but some of the girls love it! I don’t remember seeing a lot of cafes served this side, so it might be something different for you to try out when you dropped by here.

The Desserts

Their desserts did not disappoint us as well. The Cempedak Creme Brulee (S$8.00) is a perfect balance of creamy custard and the crispy caramelised sugar. Like that the custard is not overly sweet.

Chocolate Lava Cake (S$12.00) has always been my all time favourite. I would love to try out all the Chocolate lava cakes in Singapore. That aside, the cake was served with berries and vanilla ice cream, sprinkled with gold dust on it. I guessed we are too ‘Wow!’ by the looks of the cake, by the time we finished shooting it, the chocolate lava is not as flowy as I wished =.=” Nevertheless, I still love the soft and moist texture.

Glad to have the chance to catch up with the girls – CK, Chewy, Jessie, Emily, Renuka, Alicia, Angela while enjoying the sumptuous dinner.

Understand they have a breakfast menu, serving all-day breakfast from 10am to 5pm. Would definitely find a chance to go back for their breakfast menu! And probably another round to try out their wines and beers when I’m having my mum night out session 😛
