My 2025 summary
2025 has been a relatively simple year compared to 2024.
Professionally, I missed my KPI due to a colleague’s ego issues, which resulted in the worst increment I’ve had in my few years here. I began to take things more easily after starting to see similarities between my teams and Kpo Kia. There have been so many changes in upper management that I’ve become quite chill about it. Life goes on.
In the later part of 2025, I started tracking my expenses and income, motivated by a dear friend. She kept sharing tips and reminding us to invest and improve our financial health. Through this tracking, I finally realized that I hadn’t been saving enough – and it was even worse than I had anticipated.
Review and Reflection
Let me review my 2025 progress vs my resolutions:
- Health:
- Sleep before 1am
- Exercise at least once in a month
- Do not gain weight anymore!
- Go for massage – I need to use up my massage package!
- Cook more often with healthier food
– I didn’t manage to sleep before 1 a.m. most of the time, nor did I complete my massage package – I still have one session left. I managed to exercise a few times a week since Kpo Kia Papa bought the treadmill, except when traveling or when I was feeling unwell. I managed to maintain my weight and probably cooked more often compared to 2024 too.
- Build habits to:
- Track finances – expenses, savings, investments
- Read and reflect on blog at least once a month
- Monitor the assignments and draft within a week after briefed
- Pack room monthly
– I started tracking my finances from September onwards but wasn’t very consistent. I need to be more conscious of my spending and cut down on grocery shopping and dining out. I haven’t been updating my blog as often as I expected, even though I prepared a lot of photos and videos. Most of the time, I managed to complete my assignments on time, but I think I can still buck up on follow-ups after accepting them. Haha, I haven’t been packing my room for the whole year.
- Family:
- Control temper
- Cook Kpo Kia snack at least once a week
- Spend time going through Kpo Kia homework with her
- Plan for coming family trip and do research in advance (Kpo Kia papa was upset when I was not prepared for our Hong Kong trip)
– Although I do cook for Kpo Kia sometimes, I think I can do better on all the listed points. At times, I need to take a timeout when I notice behaviors I dislike, so I won’t throw tantrums at them.
- Social:
- Keep in touch with friends and family, and remember what was shared by them
- Prepare relevant presents in advanced
- Less ranting about friends
– Me and my poor memory—getting presents in advance doesn’t help, as I forget about them when it’s time to wrap them. Now my house has more unsent gifts.
- Professional:
- Templates the emails and documents
- Reorganised the folder structures for projects
- Streamline the tracking of assignments
– My colleagues still can’t find files under my new folder structure. I need to refine the structure. I probably need to talk to ChatGPT and Copilot more and befriend them, so they can understand my needs better.
- Try out something new in life
– What’s new? - READ! Learn something new, and share it on social platform
– What’s new? I think I’m still sharing crap most of the time. - Finance
- Learn to read before investment
- Increase assets (exclude CPF) by 10%
- Decide on a finance tracker that suits me
– I still haven’t learned to research properly before investing. Unfortunately, my cash assets actually went negative, though I think I have slightly more short-term investments. I haven’t decided on a finance tracker yet—Excel is still king!
My 2026 resolutions
For my 2026 resolutions.
- Health:
- Sleep before 1am.
- Exercise at least once in a month.
- Lost 3kg weight!
- Go for massage – I need to use up my massage package!
- Cook at least once per working week.
- Track my diet and weight so I will not overeat.
- Eat more healthier food, even if it means I need to spend more or need more effort to prepare.
- Personal:
- Track finances – expenses, savings, investments.
- Monitor the assignments and draft within a week after briefed.
- Give away items not in use monthly.
- Post my weekly diet, weight, and exercise progress.
- Family:
- Control temper
- Cook Kpo Kia snack at least once a week
- Kpo Kia is Primary 5 this year, need to spend at least 30 minutes on school days to go through her school work
- Social:
- Keep in touch with friends and family.
- Prepare presents in advance.
- Less ranting about friends.
- Professional:
- Use AI to speed up work processes and deliverables.
- Prepare presentations in advance.
- Finance
- Watched/read at least 1 investment-related content per month.
- Improve assets (exclude CPF) by 11k.
- Continue to track finance every week.
