Living in Singapore – a multi-racial country, we are exposed to culture from various races and religions and given public holiday to celebrate their festival (how we ended up with one of the countries with the least public holiday is still a mystery).

Deepavali,or Diwali is popularly known as the “festival of lights”, is one of the most important festival in the Hindu Calendar. During this day, Hindus from all over the world celebrate the victory of good over evil, light over darkness. They will lit oil lamps to thank the Gods for happiness, knowledge, health and wealth received.

In Singapore, during this season, the temples and streets in Little India are lit with streamers and dazzling lights. Display lights were used to decorate the Sri Veeramakaliamman, Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman and Sri Srinivasa Perumal temples.

With my self-declared “social phobia condition”, usually I do not go to crowded place, especially during festive season. Last year, I had joined an facebook event – Prime Lens Mono Night-Deepavali 2011 October 25 and went to little india during Deepavali for the first time in my life!

This year, this festival day is a catch up day for me.

Firstly, need to congratulate Daven to be born as a Deepavali kid! šŸ™‚

Meet up with the girls in Causeway point for lunch as TS is bring AJ along… in between got a bit of heart attack but I am glad AJ got through everything safely, sorry dear boy~

AJ give us the sweetest smiles of the day, it’s quite funny that us, the few adults are laughing silly at AJ whenever he smile, but he did managed to melt our heart anyway. šŸ˜€

On the way home, saw this on the floor outside one of the HDB flat unit, beside the doorstep. Not too sure whom draw it, but find it simple and nice… hope it is not too difficult to clean off after the festival else this “far neighbour” of mine might get into trouble for vandalisation =X
